Atlanta time machine

hurt04hurt56Here’s a good way to waste some time: The Atlanta Time Machine. You can check in on the Clermont Lounge, the original Waffle House in Avondale, and Moe’s and Joe’s, to name just a few.

To the right: my downtown ‘hood. Check out the columns on the building where the SunTrust tower (soon to be Georgia State) is today. Is this “Hurt’s Folly,” the original Equitable Building?

For better presentation and more history, check out Michael Rose’s book, Atlanta Then and Now.

Finally, give thanks for Georgia State’s photo collection, which documents Atlanta history, especially the built environment.
