America in color

I have spent way too much time today looking at these pictures. You’ve seen photos of these subjects all your life, but in black and white. Something about the color makes them so much more real — it’s like you can reach out and touch The Depression. (Or like Dick Whitman might step out of one of them.) The fabrics that look so drab in black and white are so vibrant here. The kids and the clouds look like they could have been snapped yesterday. I particularly love the photos of the women and the signs. Take some time and click through to enjoy these.
